So it’s basically rained buckets since we left. We spent the first night in a little parking bay in a hollow of trees up near Cervantes, and got up early to see the Pinnacles in the morning light. Pretty special and interesting, but they must look spectacular on sunset, with the right light.
From Cervantes, we headed up the coast road past Jurien, straight through Geraldton (stopping just long enough to fuel up) and got as far as a rest area just past the Kalbarri turn-off last night. It was a mud-bath, and full of massive caravans and big rig fifth-wheelers - and I thought we were traveling pretty heavy! The rain didn’t let up, so we spent the evening playing Uno (Jane won, convincingly) and drinking gin and tonic.
This morning we’ve headed in to Kalbarri, and are gonna spend the day checking the surf (looks beyond massive, but the wind just came in too) and probably canoeing the Murchison River. Jane’s gonna put Ango’s tailor rig and tips to the test later on too…

Looks amazing, as does the swell forecast, great period!
Hope the rain eases, some serious floods up north so go carefully on the water crossings!
Enjoy and hope you both get really shacked.

Ta mate.
Kalbarri looked a bit more clean and manageable today, but I was feeling too lazy and we went exploring the gorges of the Murchison River instead… Saw one young dude (sponno stickers on his board) get an absolutely b*llsh*t barrel on the inside ledge. He proceeded to muck around on the shorey where you paddle in, just casually attempting and landing shove-its and little varials. Freak.
