
The road up to Purnululu (Bungle Bungle) National Park was very winding and hilly, but nowhere near as rough as Mitchell Plateau road. Matt and Bec had left a note for us at the park registration station - they’d gone off on a two night hike into Piccaninny Gorge. We went and did a couple of shorter walks - the Dome Loop, Cathedral Gorge and the Piccaninny Creek Lookout - on the first day, and Echidna Chasm and Mini Palms on the second. Echidna Chasm was magic - it’s best to do it in the middle of the day, when the sun shines down the narrow chasms between compacted river stone cliffs up to 200 metres high - so the cave photos below are from that walk. Mini Palms Gorge was incredible, like something out of Jurassic Park - prehistoric - unfortunately, we didn’t take a camera on that hike. Anyway, here’s some of the photos we did take:
